Physicians work in high-stakes, high-pressure environments where stress, misalignment, or communication breakdowns can occur — even among highly capable, committed individuals. The Physician Development Program (PDP) exists to support professionals through these moments with dignity, clarity, and care.

Overview

The Physician Development Program (PDP) is a 6-month, supportive, growth-focused pathway for physicians navigating a significant moment in their careers. Participation in PDP reflects an investment in professional growth and long-term professional success. The program is designed to help strengthen skills, restore trust, and sustain effective practice.

The Process

Our approach incorporates comprehensive personality and behavioral assessment with pre- and post-program 360-degree feedback to identify strengths and opportunities for growth. The data in these assessments targets multiple professionalism competencies known to be integral to workplace effectiveness (e.g., Decision Quality, Practice Management, Team Orientation).

Using this data, we work collaboratively with the physician and their referring stakeholder to co-create an individually-tailored development plan. This is followed by approximately 6-8 coaching sessions over 6 months to build insight and skills. In addition to regular coaching sessions, the physician will have an “on call” relationship with their coach, if discussions are needed between scheduled sessions. Toward the end of the program, we conduct a final 360 assessment and engage in a final discussion with the physician and their stakeholders to review progress and align on next steps.

The program is designed to be longitudinal, giving physicians the opportunity to apply coaching insights in their day-to-day work while benefiting from continued guidance and support.
